News Release! News Release! News Release! Are You Involved in Construction and Development? Do You Want to Be Environmentally Responsible? EPA's new "Managing Your Environmental Responsibilities: A Planning Guide for Construction and Development" can help! What is it? The Managing Your Environmental Responsibilities (MYER) guide is a comprehensive and detailed environmental document designed to help you, who are involved in construction and development, better manage your environmental obligations. It contains two parts: Parti A checklist to help you assign environmental responsibilities Background information and enforcement case studies on environmental requirements, including stormwater, dredge and fill, wetlands, oil spills, waste management, PCBs, air pollution, asbestos, and endangered species Part II Seven self-inspection checklists to help you stay in compliance When should I use the Guide? The MYER guide can be used throughout planning and building. Use it at the pre-bid phase to factor in the often-overlooked costs associated with environmental compliance. Use it during pre-construction to sort out what regulations apply and assign responsibilities. Use it during construction to ensure continued compliance. Who developed it? EPA developed the guide with significant input from trade associations, construction companies, state agencies, other federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, and universities.
