Leak Detection and
Repair
Since December, working to secure co-
funding from Texas Chemical Council (TCC)
and American Chemistry Council (ACC). We
hope to see funding from TCC in the next few
weeks.

Chemiluminescent
Ozone Monitor
We have completed the EPA
Management/Science review, and we are
close to finalizing the report and submitting to
EPA for approval

New
Sampling pumps
Mickey Leland National Urban Air Toxics
Research Center (NUATRC) is interested in
funding a test of sampling pumps; we are
working with Leland to pursue this opportunity
One failure point on sampling pumps is the fouling of
the pump's check valve when using them with
sorbent tubes. (Debris from the sorbent tubes can
clog the check valve and cause it to malfunction.)
This should be investigated during the test.
New
Fungal monitor for air
applications
The vendor (Mycometer, Inc.) has been
working on a brochure for air applications and
is interested in ETV. What additional
information did the committee want to see
before providing concurrence to test this
technology?
Since the committee is unfamiliar with the issues
related to mold contamination (what the
health/environmental problem is, any shortcomings
of existing methods, etc.), they requested some
more basic information outlining the need for the
technology before making a decision about providing
concurrence. We have requested more basic
information from the vendor and will distribute it to
the stakeholder committee.
New
Baghouse filtration
continuous monitor (leak
detection)
Ernie Bouffard recently suggested this new
technology category for the AMS Center to
test.
The group was very interested in verifying
technologies in this area. Chuck provided a list of
commercial technologies in this category (included
below) and will look into EPRI's interest in providing
co-funding for a verification test. Seek concurrence
from full air stakeholder committee. Will discuss at

Micro plasma based gas
sensor
Optomem Sensors Inc. contacted the AMS
Center with an interest in ETV. They are
commercializing a micro plasma based gas
sensor for air quality, but didn't provide many
details. We will stay in contact with the
vendor as they reach commercialization and
revisit the category.
Rudy mentioned that the GARB ICAT program
provides funding to bring almost developed
technologies to the market.

New
Odor Detection
Tom Kelly has been communicating with a
vendor (Odotech) to discuss their vision for
an ETV test (options range from laboratory
testing to full-scale field deployment of
network). We are currently waiting for
Odotech to respond.
Continued interest in this category. One question
was what analytes are detected by the technology. It
was mentioned that this technology is "trained" to
detect "odor" rather than respond to specific target
analytes.
New
Ozone Detector Card
(see photos, below)
Enviroscan has an interest in ETV
verification, but doesn't have the funding to
support a test but could provide in-kind
support.
The AMS Center could test these cards very
efficiently, if there is an organization with an interest
and funding. Please forward any suggestions for
collaborators to Tom Kelly (kellyt@battelle.org).
There are other similar technologies available.
Concurrence for this technology category will be
discussed at the next stakeholder teleconference.
New/revisited
Portable Emission
Analyzer
We are in the initial stages of discussion and
have requested additional information from
the Swiss vendor, Anapol Instrument
Engineering. We tested this technology
category in 2002/2003.
If there has been an improvement in the technology,
the group would have an interest in testing. If this
could be used for regulatory testing as a portable
unit, there could be renewed interest in this category.
