Partner Profile Company Profile HP is a leading global Information Technology company offering the broadest technology portfolio spanning printing, personal systems, software, services and IT infrastructure- delivering solutions for customers' most complex challenges in every region of the world. HP considers human, economic, and environ- mental impact as we develop our products, services, and solutions, manage our operations, and drive interactions with our customers, partners, and communities. When we balance all three, we create true Living Progress. Living Progress isn't a campaign or a program. It's the way we do business. It's how our people and technology come together to solve society's toughest challenges. "HP is committed to measuring and reducing our global freight carbon footprint. Green Freight initiatives such as SmartWay in the US and Canada, Green Freight Asia, Green Freight Europe, Clean Cargo Working Group and the Global Logistics Emissions Council are crucial to helping us achieve these goals." John Frasca, HP Director - Global Supply Chain Network Optimization and Logistics Procurement The Partnership Begins HP joined SmartWay in 2007 as it aligns with our company-wide sustainability efforts. With one of the industry's largest supply chains, we implement initiatives to help reduce the CO2 impacts across our global network - helping us meet our 20% by 2020 product transportation Green- house Gas reduction goal. We utilize 1 00% SmartWay partners and proud to be the first company to include the SmartWay logo on our product packaging in the US and Canada. The SmartWay program helps HP demonstrate our environmental leadership in the transportation space. Optimizing Efficiency throughout the Global Supply Chain The SmartWay program enables HP to have greater visibility over our supply chain freight operations. Programs like SmartWay, Green Freight Asia, Green Freight Europe, and Clean Cargo Working Group help us to get the data we need to baseline our freight operations performance and identify ways to improve our global supply chain environmental efficiency. As part of HP's ongoing efforts to lower its carbon footprint across all phases of its business, HP maintains Greenhouse Gas reduction goals for its product transportation and first-tier manufacturing, Operations, and Product Portfolio. HP is the only global IT company to have set carbon reduction goals for all three parts of its value chain. HP engages in a host of network enhancement programs to optimize freight performance and reduce emissions, which also aligns with our cost savings efforts. These include minimizing the size and weight of our shipments, decreasing the distance our products travel, and converting to environmentally friendly modes of transport. One example of this is HP's Trans-Eurasian Rail (TER) project which impacts our transportation efficiency, our environmental benefits and our social and environmental responsibility leadership. Supporting the Development of a Global Green Freight Action Plan HP aims to help drive the global alignment of green freight programs across all geographic regions and modes of transport. Partnerships can help accelerate efficiency improvements in these areas, yet their success on a global scale is limited by a lack of common standards, methodologies and metrics. HP supports the development of a Global Green Freight Action Plan through the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) which will provide a roadmap and blueprint for these programs as they develop and evolve globally. Short Lived Climate Pollutants, like black carbon emitted from heavy duty transportation vehicles, impacts climate as well as human health and is one of the top initiatives for the CCAC.
