A brownfield site is real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. Additionally, funding support is provided to state and tribal response programs through a separate mechanism. Cleanup Grant $150,000 for hazardous substances $50,000 for petroleum EPA has selected the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy for a brownfields cleanup grant. Hazardous substances and petroleum grant funds will be used to clean up at 114-130 S. Washington Street in Easton for eventual transformation to the Eastern Shore Conservation Center. The property, located within Easton's National Register Historic District, comprises the former McCord Laundry Building, which closed in 2009, and five adjacent 1850s row houses, which have been vacant since a 2012 fire.
