1 5^0/09-93-2^)1 UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY WASHINGTON, D C. 20460 FEB 4 688 OFPICC OP MITICIOII AND TOXIC SUB$TANCII PR NOTICE 86-1 NOTICE TO MANUFACTURERS, FORMULATORS, PRODUCERS AND REGISTRANTS OF PESTICIDES ATTENTION: Persons Responsible for Registration of Pesticide Products * The purpose of this PR Notice is to announce new Agency procedures regarding the submission of fees associated with tolerance petitions. * BACKGROUND Under Section 408 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), fees may be charged to cover the cost of processing tolerance petitions. The fee schedule has been revised and is effective February 7, 1936 (see 51 FR 844). This Notice includes a new mailing address for submitting fees for tolerance petitions. It does not change the mailing address for submitting the petition requesting the tolerance. The petition with supporting data is still to be 9ent to: Requests for fee waivers and refunds are also to be sent to the above address. Procedure for Submitting Fees for Tolerance Petitions The Treasury Department has assigned EPA a lockbox to be used for collecting tolerance petition fees. Beginning February 7, 1986, payments for tolerances are to be sent to the following address: SUBJECT* Procedures for Submission of Fees Associated with Tolerance Petitions PURPOSE Registration Division (TS-767C) Office of Pesticide Programs Environmental Protection Agency ------- -2- Headquarters Accounting Operations Branch Office of Pesticide Programs (Tolerance Fees) Environmental Protection Agency P.O. Box 360277M Pittsburgh, PA 15251 These payments are to be labeled "Tolerance Petition Fees" and be accompanied by a copy of the letter requesting the toler- ance. In order for payments to be properly credited and acknow- ledged, the letter must specifically state: * name of the company requesting the tolerance * chemical for which the tolerance is requested * specific crops the tolerance will cover * amount of the check * date the petition and data were submitted to EPA. Tolerance petition requests will not be processed until EPA receives notice from the bank in Pittsburgh that the check and letter have been received. The lockbox will be in effect as of February 7, 1986. EPA will continue to accept checks until March 31, 1986, to facilitate conversion to this system. Checks sent directly to EPA Headquarters after March 31, 1986 will be returned to registrants without being processed.
