In 2002, the Small Business Liability Relief arid Brownflelds Revitalizatiori .^ct was passed to help states arid communities around the country cleanup arid revitalize brownflelds sites. Under this law, EPA provides financial assistance to eligible applicants through four competitive grant programs: assessment giants, revolving loan fund grants, cleanup giants, arid job training grants. Additionally, finding support is provided to state arid tribal response programs through a sepirate mechanism. Assessment Grants $ J50,000for hazardous sub dances $!50,000for petroleum EPA has selected the City of Dixon for two brownflelds assessment grants. Community-wide hazardous substances arid petroleum grant funds will be used to conduct 15 Phase I ard up to eight Phase II environmental site assessments, arid prepare four cleanup plars.
