What is Energy ENERGY STAR is a voluntary program that promotes comprehensive energy
Star?
management by identifying and labeling enhanced performance products that save
money and help protect the environment by saving energy.
Manufacturers and retailers sign voluntary agreements allowing them to place the
1 '.\HRc;y STAR label on products that meet or exceed energy-efficiency guidelines
set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of
Energy (DOE). Manufacturers and retailers can use the label in product packaging,
promotions, and advertising for qualified products.
ENERGY STAR allows manufacturers to use the ENERGY STAR label on light
commercial HVAC products that meet the US I P.Vs specifications. JIN.KRGY STAR
labeled light commercial HVAC products are designed with enhanced performance
to help save money on utility costs and provide more efficient heating and cooling
comfort.

Gas Packs — Must meet the appropriate cooling specifications for central AC
based on its size category.
Heat Pumps — Split or single packaged units (65,000 to 250,000 Btu/h)
<65,000 Btu/h must be >12 SEER and 7.6 HSP© (3 phase)
>65,000 to <135,000 Btu/h must be >10.1EER (10.4 IPLV) and 3.2 COP
>135,000 to <250, 000 Btu/h must be >9.3 EER (9.5 IPLV) and 3.1 COP

Third-party credibility. ENERGY STAR, an innovative government/industry
partnership, provides businesses and consumers with energy-efficient solutions that
save money while protecting the environment for future generations.
Showcase your products. The; BKBRGY Star Web site lists ESfiRGY STAR
labeled HVAC products and partners. Qualifying HVAC products that partners
submit are added to tliis list, which is accessed regularly by builders, utilities, state
and local government, and the public to verify products that qualify for various
incentive programs.
Stay competitive in the marketplace. Labeling for energy-efficient light
commercial HVAC products began in 2002. Qualifying your products that meet
the above criteria will help you gain recognition with building owners, architects
and engineers, and others within your industry. According to a household survey
done by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency, the. ENERGY STAR label is
recognized by over 40 percent of American consumers.

How do I join?
Saves Money and Energy. According to the US I-PA. about $40 billion is spent
annually in the US to air condition buildings—one-sixth of all electricity generated
in a year! Energy is typically the largest operating expense for commercial
buildings, BNEH6Y§TAK labeled light commercial IIV AC products use 15 to 20%:
less energy per year than conventional models.
Decreased Pollution. Reduced energy demand means less burning of fossil fuels,
which results in less pollution from power plants. Less pollution means cleaner air
and reduced greenhouse gas emissions—pollutants that are linked to global climate
change.
Manufacturers that are HNKR<3Y STAR partners can submit their products for
qualification. Partners are required to sign the participation agreement and ensure
that the labeled product meets all of the eligibility criteria. Please contact one of
