Community Update #95—Final Update Pompton Lakes Study Area Pompton Lakes, New Jersey Pompton Lake Dredging/Restoration Community Update August 2018 EPA CLEANUP ACTIVITIES Basic Site Information—2018 The scope of work in 2018 involved placement of the eco-layer in the Island Area and the ABD as well as site restoration. Hydraulic dredging, processing and off-site disposal of sediment containing mainly mercury and lead in a 36-acre area within Pompton Lake called the Acid Brook Delta (ABD) is complete. The work was performed by The Chemours Company FC, LLC., through its contractor, Sevenson Environmental Services with EPA/ NJDEP oversight. Two other areas that comprise the Pompton Lake Study Area (Area A and the Island Area) were also dredged and restored. Activities performed (week of August 20th): ~ Completed restoration work associated with Island Area, Uplands Soil Areas, ABD shoreline and Acid Brook. ~ Completed demobilization of equipment from the site. ~ Lake turbidity/ perimeter air (dust) monitoring is complete as water work is complete and there is no impacted material on-site. ~ Monitoring data posted at www.pomptonlakesworks.com/pompton-lake- proj ect/environmental -monitoring DREDGING/RESTORATION WORK IS NOW COMPLETE!!! NOTES: You will periodically see personnel on-site performing activi- ties including: inspecting plants/fencing and making repairs, as needed; watering plants, as necessary; inspecting the site per permit requirements and installing water monitoring points in compliance with permit requirements and PHOTOS: THE FIRST PHOTO IS A WEST TO EAST VIEW OF THE NEWLY INSTALLED WALKWAY ALONG LAKESIDE AVE- NUE.
