Does this home's radon level need to be fixed? Explain your
answer.
The lower the radon levels in your home, the lower your family's risk of lung cancer. The amount of
radon in the air is measured in picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) recommends fixing your home if the results of one long-term test or the average of short-term
tests show radon levels of 4 pCi/L or higher. You may also want to consider fixing if the level is between
2 and 4 pCi/L.
Review the test results for each home. Calculate the average of each pair of readings and determine
whether the homeowner should consider fixing the home.
