Milltown Reservoir
Sediments
2 Superfund Site
Issue #100
December 2010
Status". The Milltown Project continues to go well and is on schedule.
Remediation arid Restoration
•	Channel and f loodplain construction upstream of Duck Bridge nearly complete.
•	Clark Fork River was diverted into its new/original channel on Thursday,
December 16, 2010. A press conference was held to mark the event.
•	Following diversion of the Clark Fork River, "plugs" will be installed in the inlet and
outlet of the Bypass Channel and if necessary, water will be pumped out to
facilitate removal of the reno mattress, TRM (turf reinforcing material—the
green part on the sides of the upper portion of the Bypass Channel). Removal of
the Bypass Channel is a Remedial Activity that is expected to take approximately
five months to complete (weather permitting).
•	Work on the erosion protection for the 1-90 embankments and corner work will
occur this winter, along with the minor modif ications to the 1-90 center piers.
•	Log and pier removal continues on the Blackfoot River (funded with an NRD grant);
removed approximately 9000 logs (7500 logs were removed in 2 previous efforts)
as well as other material (cables, debris) from the Blackfoot River upstream of
the Pedestrian Bridge. The old bridge piers will be removed at a later date.
These updates are intended to
provide you with the latest
information about
remediation, restoration
and redevelopment activities at the

into the channel constructed in the Remedial Project Area. Amid fanfare and speeches, the Clark Fork
