WIFIA PROGRAM The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. CITY OF NORTH MIAMI BEACH WATER PROJECT NAME; Regional Potable Water Improvements LOCATION: North Miami Beach, FL INVITED WIFIA LOAN AMOUNT $62 million POPULATION SERVED BY THE PROJECT: 180,000 PROJECT TYPE: Drinking Water PROJECT DESCRIPTION : The North Miami Beach Water Regional Potable Water Improvements project will include a 4-phased expansion and rehabilitation of the aged water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities. The Norwood Water Treatment Plant will be rehabilitated and expanded to serve 37.1 million gallons per day (MGD). The distribution and supply systems will be rehabilitated and expanded concurrent to the treatment plant expansion, replacing aged pipes, reducing transmission main breaks, and securing drinking water supply to meet current and projected 2030 Average Daily Demand and Maximum Daily Demand. The purpose of the project is to improve overall reliability of the water supply, treatment and distribution systems and reduce the frequency of pressure drops in the water distribution system and main breaks. Selected borrowers must apply for a WIFIA loan, pass a final creditworthiness assessment, negotiate a mutually agreeable term sheet, and execute a credit agreement to receive WIFIA financing. An invitation to apply indicates that EPA believes the selected projects will be able to attain WIFIA loans.
