The effective date of this rulemaking is April 18, 2008. PROPOSED RULES CERCLA "National Priorities List, Proposed Rule No. 48" March 19, 2008 (73 FR 14742) EPA proposed to add six new sites to the General Superfund Section of the NPL. Comments must be received by May 19, 2008. TRI "Community Right-to-Know; Corrections and 2007 Updates to the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Reporting Codes; Proposed Rule; Request for Public Comments" March 6, 2008 (73 FR 12045) EPA proposed to update the list of North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes subject to reporting under TRI to reflect the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) 2007 NAICS revision. EPA also proposed to make corrections to the list of NAICS codes subject to reporting under TRI that was published on June 6, 2006 (71 FR 32464) in the final rule adopting NAICS for TRI reporting and to correct a longstanding typographical error in the regulatory text. NOTICES CERCLA "Notice of the Revised Priority List of Hazardous Substances That Will Be the Subject of Toxicological Profiles" March 6, 2008 (73 FR 12178) The Agency for Toxic Substances Registry (ATSDR) announced the availability of a revised CERCLA Priority List of 275 Hazardous Substances, which includes substances that have been determined to be of greatest public health concern to persons at or near NPL sites. 2 ------- March 2008 Federal Registers "Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) or Superfund, Brownfields Amendments, Section 104(k); Notice of Revisions to FY2009 Guidelines for Brownfields Assessment, Cleanup and Revolving Loan Fund Grants" March 24, 2008 (73 FR 15522) EPA announced the availability of revised Brownfields Grant Proposal Guidelines for fiscal year 2009 grants and has solicited comments on those revisions. The major changes to the guidelines for the three types of grants (brownfields assessment, revolving loan fund, and cleanup grants) include: three separate booklets for each of the grant types; assessment coalitions which allow eligible entities of three or more to request up to $1 million for hazardous substance or petroleum (or combined) community-wide assessments; community notification is a threshold criterion; ranking criteria are four sections: community need, project feasibility, community engagement and project benefits; community-based organization letters of support are required; and a Phase II report must be completed at the time of application for a cleanup grant. TRI "Acetonitrile Petition; Community Right-to-Know Toxic Chemical Release Reporting; Notice of Data Availability" March 7, 2008 (73 FR 12410) EPA announced the availability of two documents for public comment, TRI Technical Review of Acetonitrile and Acetonitrile External Peer Review Charge. that were developed in response to a petition to remove acetonitrile from the list of chemicals subject to reporting under TRI. Comments must be received by April 7, 2008. CROSS-PROGRAM "Agencies Information Collection Activities OMB Responses" March 17, 2008 (73 FR 14244) This document announced OMB responses to Agency Clearance requests, in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. 3501 et. seq.). Specifically, Information Collection Request (ICR) Number 1363.15, "Toxic Chemical Release Reporting (Form R) (Renewal)" was approved on March 2, 2008. This ICR, OMB Control Number 2070-0093, expires March 31,2011.
