UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
NATIONAL
HONOR AWARDS
JULY 10, 2019 - 2:00 PM - RONALD REAGAN BUILDING, ATRIUM HALL

-------
MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATOR WHEELER
July 10,2019
Greetings,
Welcome to the EPA National Honor Awards Ceremony.
It is with tremendous pride that I present to you the EPA employees
- our colleagues - who today will receive the Agency's highest
awards for their extraordinary achievements during Fiscal Year 2018.
'Ihey are an exceptional group of over 700 staff who deserve to be
recognized and celebrated for their contributions to EPAs mission
of protecting human health and the environment.
It's been 10 years since EPA last hosted this national ceremony, and we are especially pleased
to be joined by many of our regional award recipients.
A new addition to the EPA awards program is the Gears of Government (GoG) category.
Last year, the Executive Office of the President launched the GoG Awards to honor federal
employees and teams who deliver on important objectives, including mission results, customer
service, and accountable stewardship. EPA is committed to advancing these objectives through
its implementation of the EPA Lean Management System, and we are pleased to announce
our second round of GoG honorees.
As we look forward to celebrating EPA's 50th year of environmental progress in 2020,1 know
that you are our Agency's most important asset, and you represent the finest in public service.
Congratulations to all that we honor here today, and my sincere thanks to all EPA staff for
all that you do to achieve EPA's mission. The American public is grateful for your good work.
Andrew Wheeler
