FY2010 Proposal Guidelines for
Assessment, Revolving Loan
Fund & Cleanup Grants
The FY2010 Proposal Guidelines for Brownfields
Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grants
are available at:
http://www.epa.gov/brownfields/applicat.htm
The proposal deadline is October 16, 2009.
Brownfields Assessment Grants: (each funded up to
$200,000 over three years; $1,000,000 for Assessment
Coalitions) provide funding to inventory, characterize,
assess, and conduct planning (including cleanup
planning) and community involvement related to
brownfield sites;
Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Grants: (each
funded up to $1,000,000 over five years) provide funding
to capitalize a revolving fund and to make loans and
provide subgrants to carry out cleanup activities at
brownfield sites;
Brownfields Cleanup Grants: (each funded up to
$200,000 over three years) provide funding for a grant
recipient to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield
sites that are owned by the grant recipient.
Please note there are two significant changes this year:
1	- Applicants applying for a cleanup grant must own the
site that is the subject of their proposal at time of
proposal submission.
2	- Applicants who are currently recipients of a
Brownfields RLF cooperative agreement, whether
awarded under CERCLA 104(k) orCERCLA 104(d) are
ineligible to apply in the FY2010 competition. If you are
an existing RLF cooperative agreement recipient you
may be eligible to apply for RLF supplemental funding in
early 2010.

Brownfields Sustainability Pilot Reports
The Brownfields Sustainability Pilots are an EPA effort to
promote environmental sustainability at local brownfields
projects. Selected communities received technical
assistance to help them achieve greener assessment,
cleanup, and redevelopment at their brownfields.
Some of the resulting technical reports from this
assistance are now posted at:

Communities Putting Prevention to Work
Applications due December 1, 2009
The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention has
published a funding opportunity announcement entitled,
"American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009:
Communities Putting Prevention to Work".
Approximately $373 million will be available in fiscal year
2009 to fund thirty to forty awards. The purpose of this
FOA is to create healthier communities through
sustainable, proven, population-based approaches such
as broad-based policy, systems, organizational and
environmental changes in communities and schools.
Awardees funded under this FOA will work
collaboratively to promote and sustain policy change
efforts in communities and schools. It is recommended
that awardees include a strong focus on the needs of
populations who suffer disproportionately from the
burden of disease.
Proposals should focus on implementing broad-based
policy changes that are chosen from the prescribed set
of evidence-based interventions. Each community will
address all 5 evidence-based MAPPS strategies (Media,
Access, Point of decision information, Price and, Social
support services) for each application: tobacco and/or
obesity/physicaI activity/n utritio n.
Go to the announcement at Grants.gov for eligibility,
additional information and application requirements.
