Site Name: Fridley Commons Park Well Field Superfund site
Size: An active 50-acre well field with eight public wells owned by
the City of Fridley, Minnesota. The well field serves a population
of approximately 29,000 people.
Supported Site Uses: Recreational
Existing Site Infrastructure: All major utilities are available in
the local area.
Readiness for Use: The Fridley Commons Park Well Field
provides recreational activities. Surrounding land uses are mostly
residential, with some areas of industrial use. A water filtration
plant is used to filter and treat water for inorganics from the wells
at the site.

of Fridley, Anoka County,
Minnesota, approximately one
mile east of the Mississippi
River.
SETTING:
•	The site is zoned for public land uses.
•	Active land uses within the site are recreational.
•	The site includes Fridley Commons Park, which
features three baseball fields, tennis courts, a sliding
hill and open field, a playground, a warming house,
and parking facilities.
•	In 1989, the City of Fridleytookonewelloutof service
as recommended by the Minnesota Department of
Health.
•	Surrounding population: 0.5 mile, 4,347 people; 2.5
miles, 27,010 people; 4 miles, 93,264 people.
REMEDIAL STATUS:
• The source of the contamination has not been
identified. Ground water monitoring will be
conducted until the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency
are satisfied that it is no longer required.
