use area of Michigan City,
Indiana, approximately one-
half mile east of the city's
Central Business District.
SETTING:
•	The site is zoned Manufacturing II, which is
appropriate for industrial land uses.
•	Surrounding land uses include residential
homes to the south and east of the site,
commercial and industrial businesses to the
west, and Highway 12 to die north.
•	Surrounding population: 0.5 mile, 2,096
people; 2.5 miles, 32,065 people; 4 miles,
39,888 people.
REMEDIAL STATUS:
•	Construction of the site remedy was completed in
1998. The remedy includes a landfill cap and leachate
and landfill gas collection systems.
•	Ground water monitoring at the site is ongoing.
•	Deed restrictions limit on-site construction and
prohibit ground water consumption.
