www.epa.gov/region10/tri < 2010 Toxics Release Inventory Region 10 Report December 2011 Releases in Region 10 In 2010, 702 facilities in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington reported a total of 941 million pounds of toxic chemical releases, an increase of 20%, or 154 million pounds, from 2009. What is a Release? A TRI "release" is defined as the amount of a toxic chemical released on-site (to air, water, underground injection, landfills, and other land disposal), and the amount transferred off-site for disposal. All releases values in this report are listed in pounds released per year. PBT chemicals are a subset of the TRI-listed chemicals that have stricter reporting requirements. In Region 10, 352 million pounds of total releases of PBT chemicals were reported. This is an increase of 132 million pounds, or 60%, from 2009. Lead and lead compounds topped the list in 2010. The PBT chemicals in the table are listed in descending order of pounds released in 2010.
