The Mormon Farms Site is comprised of five neighborhoods located adjacent to the former Homestake Uranium Mill, plus additional properties in the immediate vicinity. The five neighborhoods are: Broadview Acres, Felice Acres, Murray Acres, Pleasant Valley, and Valle Verde. EPA has completed the excess gamma radiation removal actions on all residential properties (20) that granted EPA access to conduct removal activities. How was the local community involved in the Removal Action? EPA works with individual residents to explain the removal process and secure access agreements to conduct the removal action from each property owner. What are the next steps that EPA plans to take at the site under removal authority? As of August 20, 2014 EPA has completed all removal related activities on the Mormon Farms Site. All residents who participated in the removal action have been notified in writing of the post removal sampling results for their property. EPA plans no further actions on this Site under removal authority. Where will the contaminated soil and debris be sent for disposal? Contaminated soil and debris excavated during the removal action on this Site were transported to a licensed commercial radiological facility near Denver, Colorado.
