&EPA United States Environmental Protection Agency SUPPORTING EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT & ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE IN COMMUNITIES WITH BROWNFIELDS CHALLENGES Free Technical Assistance from Groundwork USA Groundwork USA is a national organization with iocai roots that works to empower people and engage local businesses, organizations, and government officials to revitalize neighborhoods and transform community liabilities into community assets. US EPA is funding Groundwork USA to help communities understand and integrate environmental justice and equitable development principles into Iocai brownfields assessment, cleanup and reuse projects. Through May 2024, brownfield communities can access Groundwork USA's resources and technical assistance for free! Groundwork USA's offerings will include: Developing a visual resource library with a series of audio, video and visual guides to demonstrate community engagement activities and make critical aspects of the redevelopment process more accessible and engaging for residents, nonprofits, government organizations and developers. Delivering a series of workshops and trainings to build local capacity for implementing equitable development and environmental justice principles into brownfieids projects. Trainings include supporting long-term engagement with a broad coalition of stakeholders, developing environmental justice and equitable development goals, and other community-identified topics. Many of these trainings will be offered via Zoom and recordings will be made available in the visual resource library.
