Landscapers and Garden Professionals
With hot, dry weather continuing in our area, our water supplies are at risk due to shortages and
drought conditions. We need everyone in our community to help conserve water for the places where
we need it most—including firefighting, hospitals, and public health. You can be a model for the
community by creating a beautiful landscape that also saves this precious resource outdoors. Here are a
few water-efficient landscaping tips.
PICK A PECK
OF PLANTS
Choose drought-tolerant and native plant varieties
that reguire little watering aside from normal rainfall.
Plant turfgrass only where it will be used for play or
other purposes.
GET IN
THE ZONE
Group plants in hydrozones based on their watering
needs so you don't waste water on plants that don't
need it.
HAVE IT MADE
IN THE SHADE
Plant trees and use mulch and microirrigation around
them to get and keep moisture at the roots while
reducing heat in the yard.
LOOK FOR
THE LABEL
Install WaterSense labeled irrigation controllers,
sensors, and sprinkler bodies that use less
water and keep your lawn healthy.
GO WITH
A PRO

Choose a professional certified by a WaterSense labeled
program to design the irrigation system with smart
technigues and products.
