current status of SVE enhancement technologies. The five
enhancement technologies evaluated in the report are air sparging,
dual-phase extraction, directional drilling, pneumatic and hydraulic
fracturing, and thermal enhancement. It discusses background and
applicability; provides an engineering evaluation; evaluates
performance and cost; provides a list of vendors; and presents
recommendations for future use and applicability [September 1997,
258 pages]. Download from http://clu-in.Org/techpubs.htm#November. Hard copies

Permeable Reactive Subsurface Barriers for Interception and
Remediation of Chlorinated Hydrocarbon and Chromium (VI)
Plumes in Ground Water (EPA 600-F-97-008). This document,
prepared by U.S. EPA's Office Research and Development,
concerns the use of barrier walls employing zero-valent iron as the
reactive substrate. It includes specifications for selected reactive
barrier installations [August 1997, 4 pages]. Download from

EW WASTECH Series -- Innovative Site Remediation
Technology: Design and Application Manuals. This seven book
series, produced by the WASTECH Consortium builds upon their
earlier Phase I series and focuses on the design and application of
specific remediation technologies. These consensus-based
engineering manuals are written and reviewed by experts in the
respective technology areas. Three of the seven books are now
available through the American Academy of Environmental
Engineers (AAEE) at cost: Volume 2-Chemical Treatment; Volume

Biennial Hazardous Waste Report (based on 1995 data) [August
1997], The US EPA, in cooperation with the States, biennially
collects information regarding the generation, management, and
final disposition of hazardous wastes regulated under the Resource
Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA), as amended. The
report consists of six documents: Executive Summary (EPA
530-S-97-022)~an overview of national hazardous waste generation
and management practices; National Analysis (PB97181499)~a
detailed look at waste handling practices in the EPA regions, the
states and at the largest facilities in the nation, including quantities
of RCRA hazardous waste generation, management, shipments and
receipts, and interstate imports and exports; State Detail Analysis
(PB97181507)~a detailed look at each state's waste handling
practices, including overall totals for generation, management, and
shipments and receipts, as well as totals for the largest fifty facilities;
List of Large Quantity Generators (PB97181473)~identifies every
hazardous waste generator in the United States that reported itself
to be a large quantity generator in 1995; List of Treatment, Storage
and Disposal Facilities (PB97181481)~identifies every hazardous
waste manager in the United States that reported itself to be a
treatment, storage or disposal facility in 1995; and, State Summary
(PB97181515)~provides a two-page overview of the generation and
management practices of individual states. Each of the six
documents may be downloaded from
http://www.epa.aov/epaoswer/hazwaste/data/br95/index.htm. For hard copies of the Executive
Summary, contact (703) 412-9810. All documents with PB numbers
