REGIONAL SCIENCE PROGRAM
Managed by the Office of Research and Development's (ORD) Office of Science Policy (OSP), the Regional
Science Program links ORD science with EPA's regional offices. The Program is implemented by headquarters
staff and 20 regional scientists and engineers, which includes a Regional Science Liaison (RSL) and a Superfund
and Technology Liaison (STL) in each of EPA's 10 regional offices. Program staff build networks and partnerships
between regional and ORD scientists, provide technical assistance, and deliver research results on high-priority
regional science issues in support of environmental decision-making.

ORD Lead Region Coordination
Program staff work closely with the Lead Region for ORD. Networking with and representing all Regions, the Lead
Region for ORD is responsible for identifying and synthesizing the science needs and concerns of all 10 Regions
into a "regional view" that can be effectively factored into ORD decision-making. In turn, ORD is responsible for
soliciting and using this contribution in its research planning, product delivery, and communication activities.
