Chesapeake Bay Program 2005-2010 Addressing Nutrient and Sediment Impairments Planning Framework Components:* Tributary Strategy Implementation The Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) partners have developed tributary strategy plans that outline implementation efforts necessary to reduce nutrient and sediment loads currently leading to impairments of tidal waters. The CBP Subcommittees support the implementation efforts by providing scientific and technical research based products that set measures for effectiveness for each type of BMP to estimate the amount of reduction of nutrient and sediments that a BMP can achieve. The following is a list of efforts that are being planned in order to assist in meeting the Chesapeake 2000 commitments for nutrient and sediment reductions: 2005 ~~~ Chesapeake Executive Council adoption of Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management, Wetland Goals and Animal Manure Strategy ~~~ Updated tributary strategy confirmation runs including the most recent draft New York and Delaware and final West Virginia tributary strategies 2006 ~~~ New York tributary strategy completed 2007 ~~~ Publication of new BMP definitions/efficiencies and refined efficiencies for existing CBP adopted BMPs ~> Land use and population projections adopted by the CBP partners and published ~~~ Delaware tributary strategies completed ~~~ Updated EPA Air Deposition Tributary Strategy 2009 ~~~ Public review of the draft revised nutrient and sediment cap load allocations 2010 ~~~ Watershed jurisdictions' tributary strategies updated to reflect actions necessary to achieve the revised nutrient and sediment cap load allocations *Forthe entire planning schedule, see Chesapeake Bay Program 2005-2010 Addressing Nutrient and Sediment Impairments Planning Framework: Looking Ahead to the 2008 Reevaluation and Preparing for Revising the Allocations in 2010. ------- |
