U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 3 Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia Hr Q < EPA PROPOSES BAGHURST DRIVE / I SITE TO NATIONAL PRIORITIES f " LIST ^ Upper Salford Township, PA http://go.usa.gov/8STW June 2014 Baghurst Drive Proposed to NPL On May 12, 2014, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed to add the Baghurst Drive site to the National Priorities List (NPL). The NPL is EPA's national list of hazardous waste sites identified for long-term investigation and cleanup under the program, commonly known as Superfund. The site is being proposed to the NPL because groundwater is contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including trichloroethane (TCA), dicloroethene (DCE), trichloroethylene (TCE), vinyl chloride and 1,4-dioxane. These contaminants have impacted residential drinking water wells and may also allow the VOC vapors to seep inside homes and other indoor areas. For additional information about these VOCs and vapor intrusion, please visit the following sites: http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/toxfaas/index.asp http://www.epa.gov/oswer/vaporintrusion/ You're Invited Attend an informal community meeting to meet the EPA site team and ask questions. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) began supplying 27 residences with bottled drinking water and subsequently equipped the homes with carbon filtration systems. 2001: PADEP began an investigation to identify the source of the contamination but were unable to come to a conclusion and referred the site to EPA for further investigation, and cleanup.
