Amphenol Cleanup Project
Frequently Asked Questions

Amphenol/Franklin Power Products Site

Franklin, Indiana	December 2019

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) consulted with

contractors for Amphenol (IWM Consulting) and the city of
Franklin (CrossRoad Engineers) to provide the following answers
to the questions you may have about the ongoing sewer replacement
work. The project is part of the environmental cleanup at the
Amphenol site. These FAQs will be updated as needed.

The sewer replacement is completed. During the remainder of
the project, there will be no expected interruptions of mail
delivery, emergency vehicle access, or trash pickup

Q: When was the sewer replacement completed?

A: The construction work for the sewer and soil excavation project
ended on Nov. 9, 2019.

Q: When will the sewer lining work start?

A: The lining work is expected start in early December and be
completed by Dec. 31, 2019.

Q: How long will the lining work take?

A: The lining work is expected to take no more than one week once it
starts.

Q: Where will the sewers be lined?

A: See the figure on the back page. Lining will occur on segments of
Ross Court, Glendale Drive, Hamilton Avenue, and a sewer
connection between North Forsythe Street and Glendale Drive.

Q: What will be used to line the sewers?

A: The sewers will be lined with a styrene-free resin material (see
illustration P. 2). The liner will be strong enough to serve as a pipe if
the surrounding clay degrades.

Q: When will the streets be repaved?

A: Street repaving depends on weather. The temperature must be at
least in the 40s with sufficient periods without rain for the asphalt
work. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the repaving work will be
finished in spring 2020. Repaving is expected to take about one
week.

Q: When will my yard restoration be finished?
A: Since we are past the growing season, the
contractor will plant temporary seed or lay mulch
to protect yards from erosion over the winter
months. In the spring, the contractor will return to
fix any yard erosion issues and plant grass seed.

Q: I live within the boundaries of the project.
How will I be able to get to and from my house
during repaying and lining work?

A: We do not expect any significant issues
regarding reaching your property, although minor
delays may occur depending upon the location of
your home and where the paving and lining
equipment are being used.

Q: Will the contractor be working on
weekends?

A: The contractor will be able to work on
Saturdays if it chooses, but no Sunday work is
anticipated.

Q: What hours will the contractor be working?

A: Work will be allowed between the hours of
7 a.m. and 7 p.m. unless otherwise approved by the
city of Franklin.

Q: Will my sewer be cut off during the sewer
lining process?

A: There may be interruptions of your connection
to the sewer during the lining project, but the total
length of time is not expected to last more than
eight hours. The construction team will make
every attempt to communicate with each
household beforehand via door hangers, email
notifications, or door-to-door notifications for the
residents to plan accordingly.
