Lower Duwamish Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study: The Lower Duwamish Waterway Group (LDWG) currently is revising the Human Health Risk Assessment, the Ecological Risk Assessment, and the Feasibility Study Work Plan to address Agency comments. LDWG also is preparing a report showing results of a February 2006 subsurface sediment sampling. The sampling report should be available by the end of January. All final reports will be posted on www.ldwg.org and EPA's Duwamish website (see above). (EPA contact: Allison Hiltner, 206-553-2140 or hiltner.allison@epa.gov.) Rhone-Pouienc site: The east portion of the site has been cleaned up voluntarily by the property owner. EPA published its Statement of Basis in November 2006 and requested public comments. (The Statement of Basis is the RCRA equivalent to the Superfund Record of Decision. It announces EPA's remedy decision.) The public comment period has ended, and EPA published its final decision and Response to Comments on December 20, 2006. Toluene remains in the groundwater under the southwest corner of the property, and the current property owners have agreed to treat that groundwater if it remains above the final groundwater cleanup level in six months. Boeing Plant 2 Early Action site: Boeing will be taking sediment samples within the central part of the Duwamish Waterway adjacent to Boeing Plant 2 in order to determine the western extent of the Boeing Plant 2 early cleanup action. Sampling will start by the end of March. EPA is waiting for a Memorandum of Agreement between Boeing and Jorgensen Forge ------- which will clarify who has responsibility for sediment cleanup along the southern boundary of Boeing Plant 2. EPA, the Port and City of Seattle are working to complete a Statement of Work for the Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analysis (EE/CA) to determine the extent of upland contamination in soil and groundwater and to evaluate alternatives to address this contamination along with other T-117 Early Action Area contamination. This Statement of Work will be attached to an Amended Settlement Agreement which EPA expects to issue to the Port and City as soon as negotiations have been completed. EPA returned its comments on the draft on November 27, 2006. Final (100% design) documents are due on February 9, 2007. EPA expects to complete its review of those documents on March 2, 2007.
