ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Removed 3 USTs and ancillary equipment • Collected confirmation soil samples EPA Region 8 performed this work in partnership with the Crow Tribe and with contract support from Avanti Corporation. PLANNED ACTIVITIES/ FUTURE STRATEGIES None. Site closure granted. SITE HISTORY Three underground storage tanks (USTs) used for storing gasoline were installed at the site in 1982. The USTs were never upgraded to meet the spill, overfill and cathodic protection requirements of 40 CFR 280.21. The former owner/operator of The Station abandoned the site in 1996. The Crow Tribe purchased the site at public auction in October 2004. During repairs to the water lines, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) encountered petroleum contaminated soils (PCS) in the northeast corner of the property and in die right of way down gradient from the site in 2004. In 2008, the three USTs were excavated and removed. The site was graded adding 60 yd3 of clean gravel fill. Confirmation sampling was performed to ensure the soil and groundwater were clean of any residual petroleum contamination.
