Suggested Hotel
The Association of Washington Cities (AWC) has
reserved room blocks at the Courtyard Marriott
Tacoma Downtown, 1515 Commerce Street,
Tacoma, WA 98402. Hotel reservations must
be made through AWC's online registration
system before September 28, 2007. After that
date, AWC will release any unsold rooms at the
hotel, and you will need to call the hotel directly to
see if there is space available. However, the AWC
rate will no longer be available, and you may have
to pay a higher room rate. The online registration

Directions
The workshop will be held in the Cascade Ballroom
at the Courtyard Marriott Tacoma Downtown. The
Marriott is located approximately 16 miles south of
the Seattle-Tacoma Airport. From the airport, follow
signs to 1-5 South-Tacoma. Take exit #133 1-705
City Center at the Tacoma Dome. Follow 705 to City
Center (left lane) and exit at 15th St/Pacific. Go up
the hill one block, and make a left on Commerce.
The hotel is on the left. Estimated taxi fare from
the airport is $35.00 one way. The Marriott offers
valet parking for $14 a day.

Getting In Step with Phase II
MS4 Stormwater Workshop • Tacoma, WA
A stormwater workshop focusing on construction and post
construction runoff controls, public education/outreach,
illicit discharge detection, pollution prevention, and general
stormwater program development will be held in Tacoma,
Washington on October 25-26, 2007. This workshop is the
latest in a series of two-day workshops for stormwater
program managers primarily sponsored by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) across the
nation during the past three years. These workshops have
provided assistance to stormwater program managers in
developing their programs, addressing Phase I and Phase
II minimum control measures, and meeting state/federal
permit requirements. This workshop is designed specifically
for public agency (MS4) stormwater program managers and
staff. An optional session for newcomers to the stormwater
permit program is scheduled prior to the workshop at
8:30 a.m. on October 25, The registration fee includes
attendance at this optional session.
Workshop focus
The workshop will focus on selected minimum measures
required by Phase II—Public Education and Outreach,
Public Participation and Involvement, Illicit Discharge
Detection and Elimination (IDDE), Pollution Prevention/
Good Housekeeping, Construction Site Runoff Management,
and Post-Construction Runoff Controls.
Day 1: Learn what's required by EPA for pollution
prevention and good housekeeping of your municipal
operations. You'll also learn what's required by EPA for your
construction management and post-construction control
program. Hear effective methods for educating various
audiences on stormwater pollution. Course instructors have
conducted more than 100 workshops across the country,
and they know what works!
Day 2; Learn what you need to know to set up and run an
effective IDDE program. Hear how to get the funding you
need to run your stormwater program
Who should attend?
The workshop is intended for state, county and local
officials and public agency staff involved in the Stormwater
Phase II Program. Registration priority will be given to
state and local stormwater program managers from public
agencies.
