Analytical Methods Approved for Drinking Water Compliance
Monitoring of Inorganic Contaminants and Other Inorganic
Constituents

Analysis for the following contaminants and other constituents shall be conducted in accordance with the methods in the following table, or their equivalent
as determined by EPA. The methods are specified in 40 CFR 141.23 and Appendix A to Subpart C of Part 141. The monitoring requirements are specified
in 40 CFR 141.23, 141.41, 141.86 - 141.88, and 141.135.

The CFR is the legal reference for approved methods and takes precedent over this table. The table should accurately reflect the analytical methods
information published in 40 CFR 141. If you find discrepancies, please notify' The Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791) so that EPA can correct the
table.

Because MDLs reported in EPA Methods 200.7 and 200.9 were determined using a 2X preconcentration step during sample digestion, MDLs
determined when samples are analyzed by direct analysis (i.e., no sample digestion) will be higher.

If ultrasonic nebulization is used in the determination of arsenic by Method 200.8, the arsenic must be in the pentavalent state to provide
uniform signal response. For direct analysis of arsenic with Method 200.8 using ultrasonic nebulization, samples and standards must contain
one mg/L of sodium hypochlorite.

Because MDLs reported in EPA Methods 200.7 and 200.9 were determined using a 2X preconcentration step during sample digestion, MDLs
determined when samples are analyzed by direct analysis (i.e., no sample digestion) will be higher.
