EPA's Supplemental Proposal to Reduce Climate- and Health-
yszzj Harming Pollution from Oil and Natural Gas Operations:
How to Comment

•	November 11, 2022— EPA is proposing to update, strengthen and expand its November
2021 proposal to secure major climate and health benefits for all Americans by reducing
emissions of methane and other harmful air pollution from both new and existing sources in
the oil and natural gas industry.

•	There are two ways to comment on EPA's supplemental proposed rule:

1.	Comment in writing: Once the proposal publishes in the Federal Register, the public
will have until February 13, 2023, to submit written comments to EPA in writing (see
the end of this fact sheet for instructions).

2.	Comment at the public hearing. EPA will hold a virtual public hearing January 10 and
11, 2023. You will need to register to speak in advance.

o Information on registering to speak will be posted on EPA's website after the
proposal is published in the Federal Register. Each speaker will have four
minutes to speak.

o NOTE: If you need language translation or other reasonable accommodation,
please notify EPA within seven days after the proposal is published, so that the
Agency may provide this service. Information on requesting reasonable will be
available in the instructions for registering to speak at the hearing.

o Your comments may address any aspect of the proposal, including impacts you
are experiencing related to pollution from the oil and gas industry; how you
would like EPA to address your concerns; how EPA is addressing those concerns
in the proposed rulemaking; and technical aspects of the proposal. Comments
EPA receives in writing get the same weight as comments received at the public
hearing.
