Investing in America through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling State and Territory Grant Fact Sheet Idaho Grant Recipient Information EPA Information Name: Idaho Department of Environmental Region: EPA Region 10 Quality Highlights • Develop goals and strategies for material management planning regions. • Develop a sustainable materials management program. • Establish materials management planning regions and establish data collection systems through these regions. vvEPA Overview of Idaho's Planned Activities Idaho will develop and implement data collection efforts and develop a state plan to advance sustainable materials management. Idaho will establish baseline data to set goals, track progress, and make comparisons using future data. Idaho plans to engage local partners and assist in establishing planning groups to gather existing local and regional data and identify gaps to develop the statewide plan. The Idaho Solid Waste Association, a nonprofit organization, will assist in forming materials management planning regions within the state. The regions will include political subdivisions, tribes, nonprofits, and private materials management partners. SWIFR Grants for States and Territories The 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provides the largest EPA investment in recycling in 30 years to support National Recycling Strategy implementation and build a circular economy for all. As part of the Investing in America agenda, this funding can be used to develop or update plans to advance post-consumer materials management, implement those plans, and to improve data collection efforts. These grants also advance the Justice^ Initiative, which aims to ensure that 40% of the overall benefits of certain Federal investments flow to disadvantaged communities that are marginalized, underserved, and overburdened by pollution.
