WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP DETERMINE HOW MILLIONS OF FEDERAL FUNDS ARE DISTRIBUTED TO COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT AMERICA? Because you will personally influence the number of projects that will be funded, learn about the great Brownfields Program, and meet other dedicated environmental professionals. The Region 2 Brownfields Team is looking for dedicated, detail-oriented reviewers to help us review proposals for Brownfield's funding. Brownfields are sites that remain underused or vacant due to known or perceived contamination. The funding helps clean up these sites and put them back into productive use. Read about brownfields at Reviews and panels will be conducted from January 23- March 15, 2023. Mandatory Review training will be held mid-January. You can anticipate spending 30-40 hours of your time reviewing proposals (at 2-4 hours per proposal) depending on your familiarity with the Brownfields Program and the Proposal Guidelines. CALL FOR BROWNFIELD REVIEWERS: THE BROWNFIELDS TEAM NEEDS YOU! Details: You will need to get approval from your supervisor to participate as a brownfield's proposal reviewer. You can expect to review about 6-7 proposals which are 10 pages in length. The reviewer will be part of a panel with two other reviewers (2 EPA reviewers and federal partner such as someone from the Corps of Engineers) who will also be reviewing the same set of proposals. The panels will meet once in early March (before 3/15/23) to discuss their scores and document the final scores for each proposal. You will fill out a ranking evaluacion form and provide comments to justify your scores. Training and examples will be provided. The final scored applications will be sent the EPA Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization, where the final projects are selected for award. We would greatly appreciate your help!
