AdvanceETV - Towards Global Environmental Technology Verification

Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) is a process that provides independent
evaluation of the environmental performance of a technology. Overall, ETV aims to help
users and investors choose and invest in environmentally sound technologies. This
includes technologies that address climate change and environmental protection, as well as
technologies that monitor environmental changes and effects.

ETV helps to reduce potential risks and uncertainties related to investments in new and/or
innovative technologies. ETV further helps companies demonstrate the performance of
their technologies thereby improving market acceptance.

Nationally recognized ETV programs exist in the US and Canada, and a European ETV
scheme is now being established. A European Commission funded cooperation project,
called AdvanceETV, has been launched to develop tools and cooperative approaches to
facilitate recognition and acceptance of ETV data amongst the different ETV schemes.
One aspect of this project is to provide documentation on technology performance via the
collection and analysis of credible data collected by independent third parties with
established quality systems that can be accepted globally.

AdvanceETV is now seeking vendors that would like to have their
technologies verified concurrently in Europe, the US and Canada!

The objective is for candidate technologies to be tested once and the results verified in
accordance with the three schemes (European, US and Canadian). Although candidate
technology vendors must be prepared to pay for testing for one verification, extension to
the other two verification programs will be covered by the AdvanceETV project. The
verifications will serve as pilots to help guide the development of a road map for mutual
recognition under the different ETV schemes.

Detailed agreements between candidate technology vendors and the AdvanceETV partners
will be prepared as the first step under this cooperative verification initiative. Interested
technology vendors should contact one of the AdvanceETV partners listed below.
