PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Milwaukee Waterway Flood Management and Restoration Projects will include: 1) Wilson Park
Creek Flood Management Project; 2) West Basin Flood Management Project, which will construct a 31-
million-gallon, 100-year stormwater facility and appurtenant storm sewers; and 3) Area of Concern's
Dredged Management Facility which will excavate contaminated sediments from the estuary. The
purpose of the three projects is to improve Lake Michigan's water quality and protect the drinking water
supply of 1.1 million people by reducing the risk of sewer overflows and by dredging over 2 million cubic
yards of contaminated sediments from the Milwaukee Estuary.

Selected projects must submit an application for a WIFIA loan, pass a creditworthiness assessment,
negotiate a mutually agreeable term sheet, and execute a credit agreement to receive WIFIA funding.
An invitation to apply indicates that EPA believes the selected projects will be able to attain WIFIA loans.
