PROGRAM The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. SACRAMENTO COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY PROJECT NAME Arden Service Area Distribution System Pipe Realignment and Meter Installation Project LOCATION: Sacramento, CA INVITED WIFIA LOAN AMOUNT $59 million POPULATION SERVED BY PROJECT: 187,000 PROJECT TYPE Drinking Water PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Arden Service Area Distribution System Pipe Realignment and Meter Installation Project will discontinue the use of old pipelines located in backyards, install approximately 38 miles of new distribution pipelines within the street right-of-way, install over 3,000 new meters, and replace or install new fire hydrants. The purpose of the project is to meet the requirements of California Bill 2572, which requires the installation of water meters by January 1, 2025 as a condition of water service from all water suppliers. 25 million in 20 states Selected projects must submit an application for a WIFIA loan, pass a creditworthiness assessment, negotiate a mutually agreeable term sheet, and execute a credit agreement to receive WIFIA funding. An invitation to apply indicates that EPA believes the selected projects will be able to attain WIFIA loans.
