science in ACTION INNOVATIVE RESEARCH FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE Superfund and Technology Liaison Contact information OBTAINING EPA TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR SUPERFUND, RCRA, AND BROWNFIELDS SITES EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) has five technical support centers (TSCs) that help to integrate science and technology into hazardous waste clean-up activities. These centers, located around the country, offer scientific expertise and services to EPA program and regional offices on site characterization, modeling, monitoring, assessment, and remediation. Superfund and Technology Liaisons (STLs) are EPA scientists and engineers who are important links between regional staff and the TSCs. STLs in each region work with remedial project managers, corrective action staff, and on-scene coordinators to identify available ORD resources and specialized expertise to assist with specific clean-up sites, tasks or projects. ORD'S FIVE TECHNICAL SUPPORT CENTERS: • Ecological Risk Assessment Support Center Michael Kravitz: 513-569-7740 kravitz.michael@>epa.gov Provides technical information and addresses scientific questions regarding ecological risk assessment at hazardous waste sites • Engineering Technical Support Center John McKernan: 513-569-7415 mckernan.iohn(S)epa.gov Provides site-specific assistance on engineering and treatment issues of site cleanup; helps incorporate technology-based data needs and site-specific remedy options for site cleanup • Groundwater Technical Support Center David Burden: 580-436-8606 burden.david@eaa.gov Provides site-specific assistance on groundwater and subsurface contamination problems at waste sites; publishes issue papers on subsurface remediation and groundwater topics • Site Characterization and Monitoring Technical Support Center Felicia Barnett 404-562-8659 barnett.felicia|S)epa.gov Provides site characterization assistance by supporting the use of cutting-edge methods and technologies for identifying contaminants, determining levels and concentrations, and identifying geographic extent • Superfund Health Risk Technical Support Center Phillip Kaiser: 513-487-2143 kaiser.ionathan philliplfflepa.gov Beth Owens: 513-569-7241 | owens.beth@eaa.gov Provides technical support on exposure and toxicity risk issues; reviews exposure and toxicity factors and develops new and updated provisional peer-reviewed toxicity values Region 1 - Boston, MA Jan Szaro, 617-918-1316 szaro.iaivr/cpa. gov Region 2 - New York, NY Diana Cutt, 212-637-4311 cutt.diana@epa. gov Region 3 - Philadelphia, PA Jonathan Essoka, 215-814-5774 essoka.ionathan@epa. gov Region 4 - Atlanta, GA Felicia Barnett, 404-562-8659 barnett.felicia@,epa. gov Region 5 - Chicago, IL Charles Maurice, 312-886-6635 mauricc.charlcsc/cpa. gov Region 6 - Dallas, TX Terry Burton, 214-665-7139 burton, tern- @epa. gov Region 7 - Kansas City, KS Robert Weber, 913-551-7918 wcbcr. robert Vv epa. gov Region 8 - Denver, CO Stephen Dvment, 303-312-7044 dvment. slephcn *r/cpa. gov Region 9 - San Francisco, CA Anna-Marie Cook, 415-972-3029 coo k. a n na -11 la ri e a c pa. gov Region 10 - Seattle, WA Kira Lynch, 206-553-2144 Ivnch.kira V/cpa. gov For more information about the STL program, visit: https:// intranet.ord. epa. gov/regional-science/ superfund-and-teclmology-liaison-stl- program 1 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Research and Development February 2018 ------- |
