PROGRAM The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. CITY OF BONNER SPRINGS PROJECT NAME Water Supply & Treatment Plant Project LOCATION: Bonner Springs, KS INVITED WIFIA LOAN AMOUNT $11 million POPULATION SERVED BY PROJECT: 7,897 PROJECT TYPE: Drinking Water PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The City of Bonner Springs Water Supply and Treatment Plant Project will increase production capacity to 2 million gallons per day (MGD) to meet demand through 2035 and improve water quality by reducing total hardness by constructing a new precipitative lime softening water treatment plant. The purpose of the project is to meet the current and future drinking water demands and improve water quality. 25 million in 20 states Selected projects must submit an application for a WIFIA loan, pass a creditworthiness assessment, negotiate a mutually agreeable term sheet, and execute a credit agreement to receive WIFIA funding. An invitation to apply indicates that EPA believes the selected projects will be able to attain WIFIA loans.
