The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. WATER REPLENISHMENT DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PROJECT NAME: PFAS Remediation Program LOCATION: Lakewood, CA INVITED WIFIA LOAN AMOUNT $51 million POPULATION SERVED BY PROJECT 4,300,000 PROJECT TYPE: Drinking Water PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The PFAS Remediation Program will provide remediation assistance and support to area drinking water purveyors to help them comply with emerging regulatory standards. The program will provide either full-service engineering, design, installation, and financial support for municipalities who do not have such resources in-house or financial-only support for municipalities that do have such resources. The purpose of this program is to fund new wellhead treatment systems designed to reduce and/or remove PFAS from at least 43,000 acre feet per year of groundwater supplies from approximately 15 municipal water purveyors in the Water Replenishment District's service area.
