URBANWATERS A Partnership for Restoring Urban Waterways and Revitalizing Communities Urban Waters Team Wins People's Choice Award! Congratulations, we won! On Wednesday, Surabhi Shah accepted the 2017 Sammie's Peoples Choice Award, an honor she shares with the entire the Urban Waters Federal Partnership. The Samual J. Heyman Service to America Medals, or "Sammies" highlight excellence in our federal workforce and inspire other talented and dedicated individuals to go into public service. Over 16,000 votes were cast for our Team - a testament to how your work in communities matters and makes a difference. Congratulations to all of you who work to connect our Northwest Indiana communities to our incredible urban waters! Watch the ceremony (People's Choice Award starts at about 4 minutes). The Northwest Indiana Urban Waters Partnership focuses on the Lake Michigan watershed in Lake, LaPorte and Porter Counties, Indiana. Urban Waters works to connect urban communities, particularly those that are overburdened or economically distressed, with their waterways by improving coordination among federal agencies and state and local partners. The goals are to improve the Nation's water systems and to promote their economic, environmental and social benefits. ------- |
