Join us for the next NWI Urban Waters partnership meeting July 28 at 9:30 am. The
agenda ncludes presentations from the Deputy Director of Redevelopment for the
City of Gary, Jack Eskin on development of City's Green Infrastructure plan and the
GSTADS model developed to guide green infrastructure planning. USGS
Hydrologist Dave Lampe will present information on the monitoring of green
infrastucture project at Gary City Hall.

After the meeting, Director of Green Urbanism,
Brenda Scott Henry will lead a walking tour of
green infrastructure projects in downtown Gary,
including the rain garden at City Center Plaza
(right), plantings at Gateway Park, and the start
of the Gary Green Link at Metro Center.

The Great Lakes Commission's Great Lakes
Emerging Champions Mini-Grant Program
will provide funding to help communities
improve water quality, manage stormwater,
and enhance community well-being. Grants

of up to $20,000 will support green
infrastructure implementation, planning, and
education.

Partners for Places is a grant program for
cities and counties to improve
communities by building partnerships
between local government sustainability
offices and place-based foundations.

Awards $25,000 - $150,000, 1:1 match

FWS Coastal Program

The Lake Michigan Coastal Program will
accept pre-proposals for the 2018 Coastal
Grants Program until September 15. Attend a
workshop to learn more:

technical and financial assistance to
coastal communities and landowners to
restore and protect fish and wildlife
habitat.

wild land or waterway with clear habitat

The Northwest Indiana Urban Waters Partnership focuses on the Lake Michigan watershed in Lake, LaPorte

and Porter Counties, Indiana.

Urban Waters works to connect urban communities, particularly those that are overburdened or economically

distressed, with their waterways by improving coordination among federal agencies and state and local
partners. The goals are to improve the Nation's water systems and to promote their economic, environmental

and social benefits.
