PROGRAM The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. BIRMINGHAM WATER WORKS PROJECT NAME: Infrastructure Repair and Rehabilitation Project LOCATION: Birmingham, AL INVITED WIFIA LOAN AMOUNT $147 million POPULATION SERVED BY PROJECT 400,000 PROJECT TYPE: Drinking Water PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Infrastructure Repair and Rehabilitation Project will include three projects: 1) Lake Purdy dam rehabilitation; 2) water main replacement; and 3) distribution storage tank rehabilitation. The purpose of these projects is improving water resiliency, quality, and supply dependability, particularly during a drought.
