Table 1 below summarizes federal fleet requirements for vehicle acquisitions, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and fuel consumption. Table 1. Summary of Federal Fleet Requirements The Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 1992, as amended by the Energy Conservation Reauthorization Act of 1998 and Section 2862 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 Acquire a minimum 75 percent of light-duty (LD) vehicles as AFVs, unless exempted EPAct of 2005, Section 701 Use alternative fuels to operate dual-fueled vehicles, unless the vehicles qualify for a waiver Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, Section 141 LD or medium-duty (MD) passenger vehicle acquisitions must be low-GHG vehicles (LGHGVs) or have a functional needs exception (FNE) Executive Summary of Compliance Table 2. EPA anticipates meeting the EPAct 1992 AFV acquisition requirements in FY 2023 as well. See Appendix A for an inventory of EPA's FY 2022 AFV acquisitions. Figure 1.
