Guidance and Deadlines for Climate Pollution Reduction Grants As a service to our Partners and other interested parties, the U.S. EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) is sharing information about the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program, created under the Inflation Reduction Act. Note that LMOP is not affiliated in any way with this grant program. The CPRG program will provide grants to states, local governments, tribes, and territories to develop and implement plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution. This two-staged grant program provides funding of $250 million for noncompetitive planning grants under Phase I, followed by $4.6 billion for competitive implementation grants in Phase II. EPA has released two Program Guidance documents to explain funding allocations, the process for eligible entities to opt in, and application deadlines. One document is for states (including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico), air pollution control agencies, and municipalities, while the second document is for tribes and territories. Phase I for planning grants is now open. Lead organizations representing a state or Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) must submit a Notice of Intent to Participate (NOIP). The NOIP deadline for states is March 31, 2023 and the NOIP deadline for MSAs is April 28, 2023. However, applicants are encouraged to submit NOIPs as early as possible. Interested tribes and territories should work directly with regional points of contact in the program guidance for their procedures and requirements. Upcoming webinars about the noncompetitive planning grants are on March 7, 2023 for state, local, territory, and tribal governments and on March 9, 2023 for unique program requirements for tribal and territory governments. See the CPRG program website at https://www.epa.gov/inflation-reductlon-act/climate- pollution-reduction-qrants for Program Guidance documents, information on eligible entities and eligible activities, example NOIPs and workplans, key dates, webinar registration and presentations/recordings, frequently asked questions, and contact information.
