WIFIA PROGRAM The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water :nfrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PROJECT NAME: North District and Central District Wastewater Treatment Plants Ocean Outfall Legislation Projects LOCATION: Miami, FL INVITED WIFIA LOAN AMOUNT $404 million POPULATION SERVED BY PROJECT: 1,800,000 PROJECT TYPE Wastewater PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The North District and Central District Wastewater Treatment Plants Ocean Outfall Legislation Projects will construct components required upstream of the to-be constructed municipal injection wells at the North District and Central District Wastewater Treatment Plants. The purpose of these projects is to comply with Florida's Ocean Outfall Legislation by eliminating the normal use of the ocean outfall, thereby reducing nutrient discharges and improving water quality. FY 2020 SELECTION ROUND NUMBER OF PROJECTS SELECTED: 55 TOTAL LOAN AMOUNT $5.1 billion TOTAL WATER INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT SUPPORTED: $12.5 billion NUMBER OF PEOPLE IMPACTED: 25 million in 20 states Selected projects must submit an application for a WIFIA loan, pass a creditworthiness assessment, negotiate a mutually agreeable term sheet, and execute a credit agreement to receive WIFIA funding.
