EPA's 73rd update is to inform the community of the progress of activities
related to the dredging performed on the 36-acre portion of the Pompton
Lake Study Area known as the Acid Brook Delta (ABD). EPA is resum-
ing the use of this format for providing a status update as the level of
activity for this season '.s work is about to increase.

Activities performed (week of March 19th):

~	Continued demobilization/disassembly of equipment.

~	Load and off-site transport one truck of dredged material residual that
resulted from the demobilization/disassembly of equipment.

~	Continued mobilization of equipment associated with the next phase of
work—ecological layer placement.

~	Initiated mechanical placement of initial 2-inch lift (second lift of 4
inches provides the total 6-inch layer of ecological material) of ecologi-
cal material along the shoreline in the southeastern portion of the ABD.

~	Turbidity/dust/mercury monitoring completed for dredging — data on
web site: (www. pomptonlakesworks. com/pompton-lake-proj ect/
environmental-monitoring).

~	Turbidity/dust monitoring in progress for ecological layer placement/
restoration—data posted on aforementioned website.

Activities scheduled (week of March 26th):

~	Complete demobilization/disassembly of equipment.

~	Complete mobilization of equipment and materials for placement of
ecological layer.

~	Continue placement of ecological layer along shoreline of ABD.

~	Continue routine inspection of site work areas per approved permits
and for safety purposes.

~	Continue turbidity/dust monitoring.

Note:

HYDRAULIC AND MECHANICAL DREDGING ARE COMPLETE.

INCLEMENT WEATHER CONSTRAINED PROGRESS THIS
WEEK.

THIS PHASE OF WORK IS "CLEAN" WORK MEANING THAT
THE PLACEMENT OF THE ECOLOGICAL LAYER AND SITE
RESTORATION DO NOT INVOLVE THE HANDLING OR
TRANSPORT OF CONTAMINATED SEDIMENT.

THERE WILL BE INCREASED TRUCK TRAFFIC DURING THIS
PHASE DUE TO THE DELIVERY OF ECOLOGICAL MATERIAL
(i.e. SAND). TRAFFIC CONTROLS WILL BE IN PLACE.
