Brownfields and Land Revitilization in Region 8
The BUILD Act
This is truly an exciting time for the Brownfields Program!
The BUILD Act (Brownfields Utilization, Investment, and
Local Development Act) was included in the 2018 omnibus
spending bill that was signed into law on March 23,
amending the Comprehensive Environmental Response,
Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA) to revise
Brownfields Programs and funding. This is the first major
legislative change to the original 2002 Brownfields
Law, Changes include increased liability protections for
local governments and raising the cleanup grant funding
ceiling from $200,000 to $500,000. The BUILD Act also
expands brownfields grant eligiblity for nonprofit
organizations.
To find out more about the changes and how the BUILD Act
may benefit your program, go to KSU's TAB website, read
the BUILD Act Summary, and attend a free webinar on May
9, 2018 at 12:00 PM Mountain Time.
