EPA CLEANUP ACTIVITIES
Basic Site Information—2018

The scope of work in 2018 involves
placement of the eco-layer in the
Island Area and the ABD as well as
site restoration. Hydraulic dredging,
processing and off-site disposal of
sediment containing mainly mercury
and lead in a 36-acre area within
Pompton Lake called the Acid
Brook Delta (ABD) is complete.
The work will be performed by The
Chemours Company FC, LLC.,
through its contractor, Sevenson
Environmental Services with EPA/
NJDEP oversight.

EPA continues its presence at
Borough Hall Thursdays from

EPA's 79th update is to inform the community of the progress of activities
related to the dredging performed on the 36-acre portion of the Pompton
Lake Study Area known as the Acid Brook Delta (ABD).

Activities performed (week of April 30th):

~	Performed mechanical and hydraulic placement of the eco-layer (i.e.
sand) material in the ABD.

~	Installed turbidity curtain to contain ABD area where eco-layer place-
ment is still in progress from channel area where work is complete to
leave a channel open for scows (boats) to access Island Area.

~	Mobilized to Island Area to begin eco-layer placement/restoration.

~	Lake turbidity/ perimeter air (dust) monitoring continues for eco-layer
placement/restoration — monitoring data posted at
www.pomptonlakesworks.com/pompton-lake-project/environmental-
monitoring.

Activities scheduled (week of May 7th):

~	Continue placement of ecological layer within northern and eastern are-
as of the ABD.

~	Continue eco-layer placement/restoration activities at the Island Area.

~	Receive trucks delivering ecological material on a daily basis.

~	Continue routine inspection of site work areas per approved permits
and for safety purposes.

~	Continue lake turbidity/perimeter air (dust) monitoring.

Notes:

THERE WILL BE WORK ON SATURDAY, MAY 5TH FROM
8 a.m. TILL 5 p.m. WORK WILL INVOLVE EQUIPMENT
MAINTENANCE. GATES WILL BE CLOSED WHEN POSSIBLE.

STARTING THE WEEK OF MAY 7TH, THE PROGRESS OF THE
ECO-LAYER PLACEMENT WILL BE POSTED ON THE AFORE-
MENTIONED WEBSITE IN A FORMAT SIMILAR TO THE DE-
PICTION OF THE DREDGING PROGRESS.
