Nonpoint Source Success Stories

The highlighted waterbodies were once impaired by nonpoint
source (IMPS) pollution, which is caused when rainfall or
snowmelt--moving over and through the ground-picks up, carries
and then deposits natural and human-made pollutants into lakes,
rivers, wetlands, coastal waters and ground waters. The waters
were restored with the help of strong partnerships, implementation
of best management practices (BMPs), and funding from EPA
under Clean V\&ter Act (CWA) section 319 and/or other funding
from federal, state, local and private sources. EPA publishes NPS
success stories at: https://www. epa.gov/nps/success-stories-
about-restorinq-water-bodies-impaired-nonpoint-source-pollution.
