' ' a ' - ' ' D / / Sl& •\ 'V-: MA I, ; I > 3 Nonpoint Source Success Stories The highlighted waterbodies were once impaired by nonpoint source (IMPS) pollution, which is caused when rainfall or snowmelt--moving over and through the ground-picks up, carries and then deposits natural and human-made pollutants into lakes, rivers, wetlands, coastal waters and ground waters. The waters were restored with the help of strong partnerships, implementation of best management practices (BMPs), and funding from EPA under Clean V\&ter Act (CWA) section 319 and/or other funding from federal, state, local and private sources.
