It also was used as an ingredient in ointments that help cure head lice, body lice, and scabies. It has not been made in the United States since 1977, but it may still be imported into the country and formulated. Only individuals who are certified may use this chemical. A facility located in Owyhee County, Idaho reported lindane from 2001 to 2003. Another facility, located in Grand Forks County, North Dakota only reported lindane for 2002.
