The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program accelerates investment in our nation's water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. INLAND EMPIRE UTILITIES AGENCY PROJECT NAME: Regional Wastewater System Improvements Program LOCATION: Chino, CA INVITED WIFIA LOAN AMOUNT $94 million POPULATION SERVED BY PROJECT: 875,000 PROJECT TYPE: Combined PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Regional Wastewater System Improvements Program will include four projects to expand the system's capacity; increase its solids handling capacity; increase the flow capacity and overall efficiency of lift stations; and enhance the facility's ability to reliably produce high quality recycled water. The Inland Empire Utilities Agency closed a WIFIA loan for this project in 2020 and is seeking additional funding. The purpose of the projects is to implement improvements to wastewater treatment facilities that will ensure reliable wastewater treatment and compliance with Title 22 standards for recycled water production.
